Cumin seed

Mustard seed

Yellow Gram (Split Channa dal)
½ tsp
Curry Leaves
1 strip
Onion

Garlic
1 clove
Ginger
½ pieces
Green Chillies

Turmeric powder
¼ tsp
Asafoetida

Recipe:
Slice tomatoes, chop onion, garlic, green chillies, ginger and add the salt; grind it to make a paste.
Heat the frying pan and add 2 tbsp of oil.
Add channa dal (yellow gram). Leave it for a few seconds till it turns a little brown, then add curry leaves, turmeric powder and red chillies for a few seconds; stir it.
Add the paste and cook it for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add asafoetida and stir it for a few seconds.
Add it in a blender then grind it to a thick paste.
Serve it as a side dish with rice/naan bread/roti or with snacks.
