Moong Dal (Split Green Gram – Lentils)
Gather all ingredients together first: 2 minutes
Pre-cut all vegetables: 3 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:

| Ginger and garlic paste |

| Garam masala powder |

| Black pepper powder |
¼ tsp |
| Red chillies powder |
¼ tsp |
| Turmeric powder |
¼ tsp |
| Cumin Seeds |
½ tsp |
| Fresh coriander Leaves |
5-10 g |
| Salt |
to taste |
Recipe:

Boil moong dal in a frying pan for 7-8 minutes till it softens (can also cook in pressure cooker/micro-oven for 5-6 minutes).

Finely chop onions, green chillies, and slice tomato.

Heat the frying pan and add 2 tbsp of oil.

Add cumin seeds and once it begins to sizzle add onions and fry until golden brown.

Add ginger and garlic paste and stir it for a few seconds.

Add red chillies powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala and black pepper powder.

Stir it for a minute.

Add in tomato slices, sprinkle salt to taste and fry it again till it’s like thick gravy.

Sprinkle a bit of asafoetida on the gravy and stir it.

Add blended moong dal and cook it for 2-4 minutes. Stir it.

Serve with rice/roti/naan Bread (Indian bread).
