Aloo (Potato) Bonda (South Indian style)

 
Gather all ingredients together first:  2 minutes

Gather all utensils and lay out on counter:  2 minutes

Preparation time:  12 minutes

 
Ingredients:

Potato

Peas

Carrot

Onion

Gram flour (Besan)

40 g

Oil

250 g

Red chillies powder

½ tsp

Turmeric powder

½ tsp

Salt

to taste

 

Recipe:

 
  • Peel  the  potato and carrot then cut in small cubes; boil the potato and half boil the carrot.
  • Mash the potato.
  • Heat the frying pan and add 2 tsp of oil.
  • Add onion and fry it till it is golden brown, then add mash potato, carrot, and peas and add ¼ tsp of turmeric  powder, ¼ tsp of red chillies powder, and bit of salt, then mix it well for 2 minutes and let the mixture cool.
  • Form the mixture into a small round ball shape.
  • In a bowl, add gram flour (besan), red chillies powder, turmeric powder and salt (to taste) with bit of water.  Make it as thick batter.
  • Add oil to a frying pan and heat the oil until hot, then reduce the flame to medium level.
  • One by one, dip the mixed ball in batter and then deep fry it, till it turns to be a golden brown.
  • Drain the excess oil on paper towel.
  • Serve it on a plate with any chutney/sauce/dip of your choice.
